Here’s the English translation:
Behind every wall of this historic villa lies a fascinating story waiting to be told.
Welcome everyone,
My name is Moreno, and I am the manager of B& B CriBò.
On this page, I want to share the story of B& B CriBò and the building itself, which has transformed from a simple family home into a welcoming place for guests from all over the world.
I consider myself lucky to have chosen this profession. I fell in love with it during my university studies, and this passion allowed me to stay in Tuscany—a land I adore for its beauty and climate, ideal for pursuing my second passion: cycling. You will often find me on-site, ready to assist you with any need. In my free time, I run, cycle… and then eat (so I can get back on the bike!).
The name CriBò comes from my mother, Cristiana Bollini. She is an artist, and many of the paintings and terracotta pieces you’ll see here are hers. My maternal grandmother was also a painter, and her works adorn every corner of the B& B. My father, Carmine (or “babbo” as we say in dialect), restored this house with love and dedication for over 25 years. I owe them the fortune of having turned a dream into reality.
It was a warm April morning when my mother Cristiana was out for a walk with my younger brother, Danilo. A small street, seemingly a dead end, caught her attention: Via Sciabolino. Old houses with imposing gates overlooked hidden gardens. Struck by the beauty of the place, she thought how wonderful it would be to live there, especially since our apartment was becoming too small for the entire family.
Walking down that street, she saw this house for the first time: majestic, though abandoned. The vegetation covered almost everything, and the windows disappeared behind the overgrowth. Driven by curiosity, she approached the door but couldn’t see much. As she turned to leave, a gentle voice surprised her:
– Come in! This house is lived in, it’s not a cemetery! –
It was Mrs. Sebia, a friend she had met at the local haberdashery. She explained that the house was built by her great-grandfather, a builder nicknamed "Sciabolino" (Little Saber) because of his exceptional skill with work tools, likened to that of a skilled swordsman. The house, however, had been on sale for a long time, but the high price and poor condition deterred buyers.
My mother returned home with her heart racing but said nothing to my father—such an ambitious project seemed out of reach. Only a year later did she share this dream with him. My father captivated, began to dream:
– A villa with so many rooms, one for each of us! –
But the question remained: with what money?
The negotiations were long and complicated. One of the heirs opposed the sale, but my mother, determined, managed to contact him. To her surprise, the opposition was based on a misunderstanding, and on April 1, 1989, in front of a notary and 18 heirs, the house became ours.
The adventure didn’t end there. The house was cold, without heating, and all our savings had already been spent. My father decided to work on it piece by piece, saving and investing every resource to restore it.
A few years later, facing financial challenges, my parents had a bold idea for the time: opening a bed and breakfast. At the time, very few people knew what it was, but this choice allowed us to turn a dream into a sustainable reality. Since then, CriBò has welcomed guests worldwide, becoming a place of warm and genuine hospitality.
More than 25 years have passed since that day, and B& B CriBò continues to grow while keeping alive the values it was founded on: hospitality, family, and passion. Every day, we work to make your stay special, sharing the story of our home and the charm of Tuscany.
We look forward to welcoming you with enthusiasm.
See you soon,
Moreno
